Bikology

Founded by passionate local rider, Joe Sanchez, at Bikology, we guide you through Madeira’s stunning landscapes; from jurassic forest trails and winding singletracks to dramatic coastal paths and thrilling downhill descents. Our mission is to make mountain biking an unforgettable adventure. Every tour is carefully designed around weather conditions, trail quality, and your skill level, ensuring the best possible riding experience. Along the way, our local guides share insights into Madeira’s history, culture, and natural environment, turning every ride into a deeper connection with the island. Madeira offers year-round riding thanks to its mild climate, with trails ranging from sea level to nearly 2,000 meters in altitude. This unique terrain allows riders to experience incredible variety in a single day. Our team of passionate local MTB guides brings years of experience, ensuring every tour is safe, exciting, and memorable. With Bikology, you don’t just ride the island, you experience it like a local.

Trail building

We work closely with the Associação de Ciclismo da Madeira, the Associação de Trilhos de BTT da Madeira, and the Instituto das Florestas e Conservação da Natureza to coordinate and organize our activities, to support trail maintenance, promote responsible riding, and help protect Madeira’s natural environment.

We believe that using trails also means taking care of them. Trail building and maintenance, like that carried out by other companies on the island, are part of our ongoing work, contributing to the sustainability of mountain biking and the safety of all users.

We carry out the construction and maintenance of natural trails, line corrections, drainage systems, cleanup after adverse weather, and the rehabilitation of degraded areas. This work is carried out year-round, rain or shine, because well-maintained trails are safer, more durable, and better respect the surrounding environment.

Our approach prioritizes simple, effective solutions that are integrated into the landscape, preserving Madeira’s natural identity.
